Rare Ayam Cemani
2016 is our Third season with these birds, we started out by buying some hatching eggs from a national winning champion as we were really interested in the breed, and have opted for some sought after rare breeds over the past couple of years to add to the breeds we keep. The birds are Black from head to foot, with a black tongue and even black organs. Please note I have not tested this myself. It is also said the blood is almost black in colour too, making these birds a fascinating breed. Their feathering has a lovely beetle green sheen to it and the birds we keep are very friendly and inquisitive, even more so than most of our other breeds. They have been hand reared which makes a difference when showing the birds as they are much better in hand. We have now shown birds at the national (Telford). We got a 4th but the birds were not ready as they had not fully recovered from the moult which seemed to take forever due to the mild conditions. Fertility was great in 2016 and the girls were still laying into November because of all the warm weather. We kept on a few from 2016 and will be taking a handful to sell at the national.
